Professional Experience

I started my blog in the will of sharing and enhancing my acquired knowledge over the past 8 years since I am working with SQL Servers as a Database Administrator. This blog  is designed for DBAs or technically interested people in SQL administration work. Here you will find a little portion of the problems/daily work/solutions which I hope you will find usefull and interesting. I am licensed in Information Systems and have been working with SQL 2000-2012 editions with various versions on different OS configurations. Also I had experience with SQL 2005 and 2008 clusters: managing, configuring and troubleshooting (a lot of troubleshooting). I worked closely for several years with an alternative solution to clustering: Mirroring in SQL Server 2008.

In the will of widening my databases knowledge and because I love challenges, I started in 2015 to work closely with MySQL databases and MongoDB inside Vendio(Opensky) company. I am very interested in discovering performance and tuning techniques, database and server configuration leaks, discover disaster recovery options, analyze indexes fragmentation, check blocking and deadlock situations.

I regularly post, answer queries and contribute  at:

  5. Hi,
please let me know how to check the updates in master databases.

  6. I am not sure i follow what you are saying. master db should NOT be modified on a daily basis and for some SQL versions is restricted.

  7. Hi

I have a scenario where my database has 3 filegroups. I decided to move one filegroup to some other location. I am able to achieve this. But I am able to see other filegroup objects though they are not accessible. How to eliminate other objects being listed in SSMS.

    The steps I followed is
I took the full backup of the existing database and also the filegroup backup which I wanted to move.

I restored the full backup with PARTIAL, NORECOVERY and MOVE.
Then I restored the Filegroup backup PARTIAL & NORECOVERY
    Then the tlog with RECOVERY.

The database is up but the problem is the other filegroup objects. Any thoughts is highly appreciated.
